Tomasz began work at the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PGI) more than 20 years ago as a student of the Warsaw University Faculty of Geology from where he holds an MSc and a PhD in Hydrogeology. He has also completed postgraduate studies in project management at the Warsaw School of Economics and the Kozminski Academy. Tomasz initially worked in the PGI Department of Environmental Geology, mainly on projects related to the Geoenvironmental Map of Poland.
In 2004 Tomasz began work at the Polish Hydrogeological Survey (PHS), including groundwater monitoring and implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive. In 2005–2011, he represented the PHS in the International Commission for Protection of the Oder as the Deputy Chairman of the Data Management Working Group, and was appointed Head of PGI Environmental Geology Department.
In 2009, he began work for the PGI Geoinformation Division, focusing on implementation of the INSPIRE Directive as a member of the working groups for the INSPIRE Geology and Mineral Resources data specifications. In 2013 he was appointed Head of the PGI International Cooperation Division. Since 2015 Tomasz has been the PGI Deputy Director, Geoinformation Director.
Tomasz is a member of the EuroGeoSurveys (EGS) Spatial Information Expert Group (SIEG), is a member of the EGS Strategic Task Force, and of a team of EGS experts appointed to assist the Geological Survey of Ukraine. Tomasz has represented the PGI in the Geoscience Information Consortium (GIC) since 2013. In 2016 he was elected to the GIC Executive Committee, and is the Europe representative on the OneGeology Board. He is a member of the International Hydrogeological Association and the Polish Spatial Information Association.
